Nilesh R. Patel, DMD, MD is a Board Certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon practicing oral surgery for over 15 years.  Dr. Patel is one of the few practicing oral surgeons in New Jersey who has both MD and DMD degrees.   Dr. Patel has completed a combined 6 year Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery training program at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. Raised in Irvington, NJ, Dr. Patel decided to come home and be close to family.

Dr. Patel attended the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine for his dental degree (DMD) and then went on to receive his medical degree (MD) at Drexel University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, PA. Dr. Patel has also completed a two year training program in general surgery at Allegheny General Hospital.

While at Allegheny General Hospital, a Level I Trauma center, Dr. Patel trained in all aspect of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. His training program also allowed him to focus on the surgical management of Obstructive Sleep Apnea, facial cosmetic procedures and dental implants. Dr. Patel finished his residency training as a Chief Resident.

Dr. Patel holds memberships in several state and national organizations. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (ABOMS), a member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS), a member of the American Dental Association (ADA), a diplomate of the National Dental Board of Anesthesiology (NDBA) and a Fellow in the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology (ADSA).

Outside of the office, Dr. Patel volunteers to teach dental residents at JFK Medical Center in Edison, NJ and St. Peter’s Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ. Along with teaching, his interests include a passion for photography, cooking and sports. Dr. Patel is also a professional artist having sold 2 of his art works in the past.  Though not enough to retire on.
